My Sunshine Home

The road in front of the property, looking south, towards Taos. Looking towards the house from west of it, out in the sagebrush. The house is on 11 acres.

To the north, Ute Mountain. I love Ute Mountain!

A few aspen trees in the back yard.

There are numerous little areas of rock work in the yard, as seen above and below...

Greenhouse and attached workshop or storage building. Looking inside greenhouse section below.
Huge wood scrap pile out behind the greenhouse building...
Lots of fuel for the wood stove, and for various projects.
A cute little bird house, in front of a russian olive tree.

Fencing, and Sangre de Cristo mountains to the east.

Sweet young evergreen that looks like a little girl dancing...

Great big lilac bush by one corner of house.

East side of house with a couple of aspens and lilac bushes. One of 4 small decks seen to the left.

House with Ute Mountain in the background. Also you can see the shed in the back that might become a chicken coop.
![]() |
Closer look at front, south side, of house. There are decks to the right of each of the two sections that stick out. Passive solar gain through all those windows.
![]() |
Back of the house, with an entry mud room sticking out, and small decks on either side of it. Except for the mud room, there is a brand new green metal roof on the house.

The West side of the house...
![]() |
The solar panels... unknown for certain if they work... But there is an inverter and 8 storage batteries inside the house.
![]() |
Continuing on around the house.... The window on the left is in one of the two bedrooms. Windows on right are in the livingroom, which has a wood stove and would be used as my office.
windows on the left look into the living room, middle windows look into kitchen,
and windows on the right look into the room with the saltillo tile floor...
I will make the steps going up to that deck look nicer.

The room with the saltillo tile floors. It would be for cat boarding. Small decks on either side. Outside of that room there are tulips, lavender, and the delicious herb lovage planted.

This was taken looking into that room through one of the windows.

Looking in through window above the kitchen sink. To the left is the dining area, and you can also see down into the living room. The kitchen, dining area and the living room all have wood floors.

Again taken looking through window above kitchen sink.
Looking towards the kitchen sink, taken through the glass door. That door
to the left of the stove goes into the mud room. I'd put a kitty door in that
door and a second one in the mud room's exterior door.
Photo below is looking out into the mud room...

The House In Peñasco I'm Trying To Buy...
Here are some photos of the house I'm trying to buy... mostly of the yard, which I really fell in love with. I think my cats would really enjoy it too. There are some fruit trees on the property, but I'm not sure how many or what kind. It is a humble little house, but in pretty good shape, and the layout would work for me. Ater 8 years of renting I'm REALLY wanting to own my own house again. It is in Peñasco, a rural area about 35 minutes from Taos, and an hour from Santa Fe.
I put in an offer to buy the house yesterday, and I'm waiting to hear back from the sellers. Meahwhile, please imagine me happily living here:

The cool old truck. Don't know if it goes with the house, but I'd love it if it did:
This corner was originally a carport, but is now closed in and used as storage area, which is great, because I need a storage area:
The front porch:
The side of the house further back:
The back of the house, with a little sitting porch:
The front yard:
Old log shed in the back yard, once used for goats, I think:
The old well house (well no longer in use):
And here are some other views of the back yard. I love that there are aspen trees:
UPDATE:
The sellers and I have reached an agreement. The price is good, and it will include a new Pro Panel metal roof, which will look great on the house. It will be this turquoise color:
We will close at the end of August... Very exciting!
